Feel alive in nature

White sandy beaches, untouched wilderness – what’s so bad about that? Nothing. So what are you waiting for?

What’s there to do?

Lots! Hiking and camping are top choices, but you can also swim, kayak, fish, and even hunt all over Cape Scott.

Hike San Josef Bay

Hiking is the name of the game. San Josef Bay is among the most popular, but there are so many other fantastic hikes to explore. It’s a fairly easy trail that only takes a couple of hours to complete. It leads to some beaches with drinking water, food caches, and outhouses. Not bad at all!

Cape Scott Camping

There are two options for camping at Cape Scott Provincial Parkbackcountry and wilderness camping. Eric Lake has designated camping spots and the more hardcore campers can camp at random places on the beach. If you like to camp where it’s mainly just you and the trees (or sea) then you should check this one out.

Anything cool to see?

You bet! Many people stumble across San Josef Bay when searching for beaches near Port Hardy and are pleasantly surprised at their discovery. Since it is a bit of a challenge to get there, it tends to be a quieter and more rugged landscape compared to other Vancouver Island beaches.

Oh, did we mention there are bears?

Along with the beautiful scenery comes the expected local residents. Wildlife like bears and wolves do roam the area, so being prepared ahead of time will make life a lot easier for you. Pops has all the supplies you’ll need, so it’ll be up to you to be smart about how you utilize them when he’s not looking. Don’t worry, we know you’ll be fine. Heck, you might even see a whale.

Beautiful British Columbia

What are you doing with yourself? You should be here, experiencing San Josef Bay for yourself. It’s too beautiful to pass up.

Prepare for your trip

Time for a hiking or camping trip? Stock up, rent a kayak, the usual. Holberg Pitstop has everything you need, including advice and tips from Pops if it is your first time (or 100th, we don’t judge). Take a breather and spend the night at our lodge – it’ll be the last comfy bed you’ll see for a while!
